  • A Philosophy of Spiritual FormationIncarnation and Carnalization in Spiritual Transformation: Life of the Spirit vs. Life of the Flesh By Chris Yeager During a class discussion one day in graduate school, the question was asked, “Where does Spiritual transformation begin?”  The answer: the incarnation.  Spiritual transformation begins and ends with Jesus Christ, the Alpha and Omega of all things.  He is the height, breadth, width and depth of God’s love in the flesh.  Our life with God begins with an acceptance of who Christ is – “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” (Matthew 16:16) – and moves toward our absolute surrender to His rule in our life – “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”  (Galatians 2:20) The tragedy at every level of Christian experience – individual, corporate and cultural – is that we tend to immediately turn the power of the incarnation into works of the flesh.  In other words, our misunderstanding of the incarnation leads us into carnalization.  For the purpose of this paper it…
  • About CD Yeager WritesMy name is Chris Yeager, an aspiring writer and hopeful blogger.  I am married to a wonderful woman and call two little girls my daughters.  My writing is certainly informed by my Christian faith, but is not always about Christianity, religion or spirituality.  My hope is that what I put out in the ether through Wordpress will encourage and challenge those who read.  While I will make an effort to respond to comments, time and a two year old may take precedence.

  • Paint on Us

So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer.  Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!  All this is from God, who reconciled us to…

  • Resolutions: One Whose Eye Sees Clearly

A repost from last year.  May God bless you and yours this coming year.   Now when Balaam saw that it pleased the LORD to bless Israel, he did not resort to sorcery as at other times, but turned his face toward the desert. When Balaam looked out and saw Israel encamped tribe by tribe,…

  • The Right Kind of Righteousness: Conclusion

But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify.  This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely…

  • The Right Kind of Righteousness: Unrighteous Anger

My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man’s anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires. – James 1:19-20 (NIV) There is a lot of anger being thrown around today.  We see it on our TV screens,…

  • The Right Kind of Righteousness: A Gracious Memory Leads to a Better Future

At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another.  But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of…
